About This Organization

Established in 1948, the Washington Potato and Vegetable Growers Association (WPVGA) is one of the oldest organizations to be included in our guide. Some readers might be surprised to learn that Wisconsin is the third largest potato producing state in the country, and this coalition of 140 farmers aims to educate Wisconsinites on their practices, research more sustainable growing methods, and create a social network of farmers where information can flow easily. The group also operates the “spudmoblie,” a mobile potato farm that travels around the state educating children on the art of growing potatoes.
