About This Organization

(IAA) is a 60-credit, two-year academic certificate program in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (AGNR) at the University of Maryland, College Park, offering concentrations in sustainable agriculture, agricultural business management, agricultural leadership and communication, ornamental horticulture, landscape management, golf course management, sports turf, and general turf grass management.
The IAA provides students with the entrepreneurial, technical, and leadership skills needed to manage profitable agricultural enterprises, including golf courses, sports fields, landscaping companies, nurseries, and farming operations. Our programs combine the best elements of a small institution—experiential learning, supportive faculty and advising, and a strong community of students and alumni—with the many benefits of belonging to a world-class research university. Our students get a hands-on education, combining fundamental college coursework with applied agriculture classes; our graduates emerge ready to jump into the work force or pursue further education.
