About This Organization

10268512_10152073292076943_2379689738208516793_nFor 10 years, The Carrot Project has worked with farm and food businesses in New England and the Hudson Valley, supporting their successes by helping them build the financial management skills to help their businesses thrive. The Carrot Project’s mission is to foster a sustainable and diverse food system by supporting ecologically- and financially-sustainable small and midsize farms and food processors by expanding financing available to them and increasing their ability to use it. We work towards this goal, of helping to build the farm and food system, by addressing the most important gaps in financing and business management services that prevent small and midsized farms and food processors from economic viability and expansion. Our 5-year goal is to support 5,000 farms with innovative financing, business training programs, and leadership to train and increase the number of agricultural businesses and skilled advisors. We work in New England and the Hudson Valley and our programs are divided into three categories: -For Entrepreneurs: Business development services such as 1:1 business assistance, trainings, workshops, webinars and access to financin -For Service Providers: Peer networking and learning to train the trainer with the goals of improving service providers’ skills and strengthening the support network for entrepreneurs. – For Sector Development: Research and education to increase understanding of agricultural business economic viability through business education and financing.
