About This Organization

598918_464351173588332_1859229259_nThe Alaska Food Policy Council (AFPC) brings together farmers, fisherman, tribal leaders, food banks, government representatives, academics, and ordinary Alaskans who believe that all Alaskans have a right to affordable, healthy, local food. In 2014, they worked with Ken Meter of the Crossroads Resource Center to publish an assessment of the Alaskan food system, Building Food Security in Alaska; conducted a series of town hall meetings in communities across the state to learn what Alaskans believe we can do better; and developed a food security assessment that communities across Alaska are using to make sure they have sufficient food resources for emergency situations.
