About This Organization

Seed Savers Exchange is a nonprofit organization that has promoted the preservation and sharing of seeds since 1975. Its mission is to conserve and promote America’s culturally diverse but endangered garden and food crop heritage for future generations by collecting, growing, and sharing heirloom seeds and plants. One of the largest non-governmental seed banks in the nation, Seed Savers Exchange operates a 890-acre farm near Decorah, Iowa. The organization offers hundreds of rare, heirloom, open-pollinated seeds to the public via its seed catalog and online store.
