About This Organization

NESAWG’s purpose is to harness the power that exists in our multi-sector regional network and catalyze meaningful change toward a sustainable and just food system. We do this through policy advocacy, peer-learning, network convening, collaborative partnerships, research, information sharing, and our annual conference, It Takes a Region. Our network spans 12 Northeastern states, from Maine to Maryland, and convenes over 500 organizations and thousands of individuals, including nutritionists, public health workers, academics, teachers, students, researchers, farmers, food hub workers, food industry employees, and more. This year marks NESAWG’s 25th Anniversary.

    ABOUT THE GUIDE

The James Beard Foundation, Food Tank, and Valrhona, along with a prestigious advisory group of food system experts, developed the “Good Food Org Guide.”

This definitive Guide highlights nonprofit organizations that are doing exemplary work in the United States in the areas of food and agriculture, nutrition and health, hunger and obesity, and food justice.

Only nonprofit, scholarly, and municipal initiatives have been selected in order to spotlight efforts that are focused on community building and engagement, advocacy, and service.
