About This Organization

Locally Delicious, Inc. helps improve the global food system through education and activities regarding the three E’s of a sustainable local food system: Equity, Economy and Environment.  They work to promote equity for access to healthy food for all in our community, to promote their local farmers, ranchers and other local food producers and to promote organic sustainable agricultural practices which help reduce global climate change and promote clean air and water. Through their Food for People Farmer Program, now in its ninth year, they raise money and give money from sales of their book and give it to the food bank which uses it to hire local organic farmers to grow food for the food bank.  Over $80,000 has been raised which has supplied about 40 tons of food. Locally Delicious is partnering with Humboldt State University to produce a half-hour documentary film for PBS on how food sovereignty builds communities following the three E’s. A guide for communities that wish to create food sovereignty will be available on line at the launch of the film in early 2017.
