As a grassroots organization, headquartered in New York City, La Via Campesina strives to unite peasants, the landless, female farmers, and rural youth to defend small-scale sustainable agriculture on a global scale. La Via Campesina routinely participates in discussions on food policy with the U.N. Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and the U.N. Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
