About This Organization

12742291_10154628367189899_637254964044502581_nHot Bread Kitchen is a social enterprise that creates economic opportunity through careers in food. Their core programs, Bakers in Training and HBK Incubates, provide training and resources to individuals looking to master a culinary trade. Through Bakers in Training, an intensive, paid on-the-job program, low-income women from around the world learn the trade of bread-baking. After completing their training, 100% of graduates become breadwinners, landing in full-time jobs with benefits. HBK Incubates is a shared commercial kitchen space and business support program for high-growth food enterprises. The incubator allows entrepreneurs to mitigate start-up risk and grow their food ventures in a community of business owners. Their manufacturing bakery in Harlem’s historic La Marqueta sells multi-ethnic, artisan breads inspired by the women who bake them. In addition to their direct service, through their global bread offerings, they are “br-educating” New Yorkers about the important role played by immigrant communities.
