About This Organization

10632821_856730477679578_3926365882438801307_nThe mission of Grow Dat Youth Farm is to nurture a diverse group of young leaders through the meaningful work of growing food. On our farm, we work collaboratively to grow food, educate and inspire youth and adults, and build power to create personal, social and environmental change. Since opening in 2011, more than 250 youth, ages 15-21, have participated in our Leadership Programs. Over the last six years, these young people have transformed a former golf course in City Park into a farm that now generates 25,000 pounds of food each year. In total, we have harvested more than 100,000 pounds of food, 30% of which we have donated to the community, and the other 70% we’ve sold through our on-site farm share program and at the Crescent City Farmers’ Market. In addition to our Leadership Programs, Grow Dat also offers community education classes, field trips, learning tours, and volunteer hours. We believe that together we can create a more just and inclusive food system.
