Greener Choices is an initiative from Consumer Reports that looks at the environmental impact of consumer choices. Greener Choices investigates how the production, use, and disposal of consumer goods affect communities, both human and ecological. Producing food impacts the environment, and, depending on the methods used, those effects can be positive or negative. Claims and seals on food packages can tell you the story behind the food: how crops were grown; how the animals were treated; whether pesticides were used; and more. Knowing what various claims and seals mean and whether you can trust them is critical. With Greener Choices, Consumer Reports provides reviews and ratings of food labeling claims and seals to help consumers make more informed choices to support a safer, healthier, and more sustainable food system.
