About This Organization

of_logoGovardhan Gardens promotes sustainable agriculture, food self-sufficiency, and the preservation of biodiversity at its location in Mayaguez, PR. The eco-organic gardens are well known for its unique collection over over 450 tropical fruit and nut species, as well as almost 100 bamboo species. The many different seeded grasses and fruit bearing palms have turned the farm into a natural bird sanctuary, and the tropical seed sale and exchange program is globally known and held in high esteem. A newly added feature, Govardhan Gardnes provides professional help to those looking to invest into sustainable agricultural projects, providing assistance in finding land, design the project and plant it out. The impact of this service is quite significant, and is benefitting investors as well as local communities. The projects have a wide range, involving all edible crops as well as bamboo and eco tourism – and all of it is based on the principles of diversity and sustainability. This way, much of PR’s neglected, contaminated and severely damaged ag land is in the process of recovering and turning into ecologically vibrant eco-systems again.
