About This Organization

575697_10151009979765119_1758291889_n Gateway Greening educates and empowers people to strengthen their communities through gardening and urban agriculture. Gateway Greening is determined to reduce food deserts, revitalize vacant lots, and educate the community on food access in an urban environment. The Community Garden Program supports over 220 community gardens in the St. Louis area. These gardens often become community focal points and catalysts for neighborhood improvement. The Youth Program supports 60 school and youth-focused gardens in St. Louis and works to positively impact young lives by involving youth in sustainable food production and garden-based education. Gateway Greening recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of its 2.5-acre urban farm, located in the heart of downtown St. Louis. This unique space produces more than 15,000 pounds of produce for local residents each year through the efforts of volunteers and participants of the City Seeds Therapeutic Job Training Program.
