About This Organization

604058_230413097149112_985746467_nLocated in the Chicora-Cherokee community, a certified food desert, Fresh Future Farm uses urban agriculture to improve access to high quality foods. Food justice becomes the vehicle for socially just economic development. FFF is also among the small number of black operated grocery businesses in the state. We sell fruit, vegetables, herbs and fresh eggs grown on the farm along with a mix of procured produce, dairy, basic and specialty grocery staples. The farm store accepts cash, credit and SNAP (food stamp) benefits for food and plants. In addition the urban farm and grocery store, Germaine Jenkins, co-founder and CEO, leads monthly organic gardening classics and has collaborated with other groups to host their first STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) based summer camp for children in the surrounding community. All proceeds from sales go back into operating costs, programming and the training and hiring staff from the community. The farm plans to complete its .81 acre food hub with the addition of a pavilion, a high tunnel and a mobile incubator kitchen within the year.
