Florida Organic Growers, founded in 1987 and based in Gainesville, is a leader on the state’s efforts to further develop and promote sustainable agriculture and ranching, equity and social justice, healthy communities, and resilient, local food systems. It does so through a variety of initiatives: on-farm workshops, an annual food & farming conference, consumer education, advocacy and public policy, community gardens, a local EBT program, and Fresh Access Bucks, a statewide program that helps make fresh, local produce more affordable and accessible to low-income families. FOG’s Quality Certification Services program, with a reach of 39 states and 12 countries, offers a wide array of certification options for organic farming, livestock, aquaculture, compound animal feed, packing, handling, processing, and wild harvest operations.
