About This Organization

522179_10150655448943639_644002422_nInhabit Earth applies regenerative design toward enabling life-sustaining cultures in bioregions everywhere. Their mission is to cultivate resiliently productive human ecosystems that can effectively adapt to, mitigate and reverse the worst of the climate crises by (1) developing replicable regenerative design solutions; (2) engaging partners in applying design solutions to generate healthy eco-social systems; and (3) incubating social ventures that amplify our work. They have several new projects. 1) Foodways – We are launching the first ever Foodway, a corridor of productive landscape of edible & useful plants, along the Bronx River. The first planting is going on as write this at Concrete Plant Park (2 of the 7.5 acres) with a food forest, agroforestry system, and lots community-operated spaces for public engagement. (See http://foodway.inhabit.earth ) 2) Community Food Forestry – We are currently in development of a suite of resources and tools for urban foresters, planners, and municipal folks to be able easily incorporate productive landscapes into public and civic spaces. (See http://foodplaces.inhabit.earth) 3) LIFE (Local Integrated Food Enterprise) Hubs – We are currently working on a replica model for food-based economic development utilizing local food enterprise ecosystems focused on transforming impoverished neighborhoods. The first project is going in several low-income communities in Miami, FL with others in the pipeline. (See http://overtown.inhabit.earth)
