About This Organization

45280_582059471811822_1062540084_nCeres Community Project energizes communities by linking what we eat and how we care for one another with the health of people and the environment. Youth grow food and prepare organic meals that are delivered for free to low income families struggling with a serious health challenge like cancer. With four program sites in Northern California and a dozen communities nationally that have replicated its model, Ceres re-imagines a meal delivery program as a strategy for improving health outcomes, reducing social isolation, strengthening local food systems, empowering youth, and improving eating habits among everyone involved. California’s 2017 budget includes funding for an innovative 3-year pilot to study the impact of medically-tailored meals provided by Ceres and our coalition partners on healthcare costs and health outcomes for Medi-Cal patients. ABOUT THE GUIDE

The James Beard Foundation, Food Tank, and Valrhona, along with a prestigious advisory group of food system experts, developed the “Good Food Org Guide.”

This definitive Guide highlights nonprofit organizations that are doing exemplary work in the United States in the areas of food and agriculture, nutrition and health, hunger and obesity, and food justice.

Only nonprofit, scholarly, and municipal initiatives have been selected in order to spotlight efforts that are focused on community building and engagement, advocacy, and service.
