About This Organization

carolinafarmstewards_logoThe Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA) is a farmer-driven, membership-based organization that helps people in North and South Carolina grow and eat local, organic foods. The Association sponsors workshops and events year round; hosts an annual Sustainable Agriculture Conference, now in its 34th year; and provides opportunities for volunteers to help out local farmers and learn more about sustainable farming. CFSA’s flagship Organic Carolinas Initiative is a comprehensive, long-term strategy to bolster organic agriculture in the Carolinas, contributing to a 380% increase in organic acreage in the Carolinas since 2007. Their programming includes consulting on organic certification, high tunnels, soil and water conservation, and Good Agricultural Practices. CFSA successfully advocates for state and national policies to better support local food economies and promote organic integrity.
